Drop in Sales – Any Insights?

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed a significant drop in my sales on Amazon recently. Despite keeping my prices competitive and maintaining good product ratings, the decline continues. I’m wondering if others are experiencing the same issue. Could it be due to recent algorithm changes, increased competition, or seasonal fluctuations?

I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions on how to improve sales in the current market.

Thanks!

Add additional distribution channels if you have not done so already. Build your own website. Plan on moving AWAY from Amazon in the future as their fees continue to go up and they continue to seek sellers that are not US based.

Buckle up and wear protective gear because it is probably going to be a rough ride for a while.

Like @Seller_kIukTwdhvntApsaid, it's an ongoing issue for so many sellers. I'm down about 75% and I noticed my sales dropped drastically almost instantly when they started classifying everyones products into the wrong categories late in 2024. I sell items in Automotive for motorcycles. As soon as they said my items were now home and kitchen products sales tanked from that point on. I think that is a huge part of what is happening to everyone. Also when a buyer searches for something the search results on Amazon returns just about everything on Amazon in the results except what they are actually searching for. Amazons constant tweaking of their system only to benefit their bottom line I believe is hurting the sellers bottom lines overall. I have over 1,200 items and the buy box on every single item, but it hasn't mattered much since they made the category changes it seems. Maybe it will improve as their AI catches up and learns to get things right or maybe it won't and will stay the same or become even more of a dumpster fire. Will just have to see, but in the meantime diversify and work on other platforms to spread out your luck.

It happened to me as well, so I tried to find the reason behind the data. After comparing the daily traffic between the first and second week in Feb, the second week traffic dropped 4%, but CVR holds there still without any change. So I guess is just the market dropped, you can make a comparison to figure out what's the problem, traffic or CVR. If the traffic is down, I think is temporary dropping, but if the CVR goes down, it always means your competitors is hard working, I'd recommend to optimize more on the listing page and gain them back in case of slow ran rate and aging stock. Good luck!

Hi Dear,

Your competitors will always try to outbid you, so you must work hard. There are ways in which you can increase your organic and paid rankings.

Thanks

February is typically not a great month across most categories. However, comparing with previous years, there is some level of a dip too for now. Hope it picks up in the next 2 weeks to finish stronger

my sales decreased in december over november...that has NEVER happened before to me.

Also, consumer confidence decreased in December and January...with eggs still going up and talk of devastating tariffs, it's no wonder.

February. Bad weather, holidays and quasi-holidays, tax filings on the horizon, heating bills, lots of people getting fired from their jobs by the new Administration.

it’s probably Amazon micromanaging your listings to the point where they feel like you work for them.

If you're not selling toilet paper, everything with fluctuate with the economic climate, tax refund season, politics, etc. etc.

as @Seller_kIukTwdhvntAp suggested, have contingency plans.
