Amazon is allowing scammers to destroy small businesses

Amazon recently refunded one of my customers with the reason "General Adjustment". When I contacted Seller customer service I was told that the buyer claimed that one of the items was broken when they received it. I take pictures of every order before I ship because this is not the first time I have had an issue with fraudulent refunds. I provided the picture of the order and the tracking details to prove that the order was delivered successfully. Then the customer service rep stated that the item was damaged in shipping and that I needed to file a claim with the carrier. However, as soon as Amazon refunds a customer, the seller can no longer see the ship to information, this is needed to file a damaged package claim with USPS. Amazon also refused to provide me with proof from the customer that the item was damaged in shipping, also needed to file a claim with USPS. I would assume that Amazon did not require proof, because in my experience as a seller they never do. Scammers know this, and continue to get refunds and are allowed to also keep the item. What Amazon customer service reps don't seem to comprehend is that without sellers, Amazon would not exist. They need to stop catering to con artists and start protecting their sellers.

@Seller_vrhLSQE91EzwpAs per Amazon policy for custom or handmade items, the customer must contact the seller to report damage to items or packages. The seller then has 24 hours to respond. If you used Amazon shipping, you would respond with instructions on how to file an A-Z claim (covered when Amazon shipping is purchased).

In this case, customer support completely bypassed the seller (contrary to posted policy) and made an executive decision that they had no right to make.

To get the shipping address, you can go into the order and click reprint label. This will give you the shipping address. Without pictures of the damaged item and package, you will not be granted a damage claim from any shipping provider. Even with picture proof, USPS now requires that the damaged package be brought into a USPS facility as proof and then takes the damaged package and gives a signed USPS form in exchange. This leaves you completely at the mercy of the customers willingness to be cooperative.
