US Postal Service head DeJoy to step down after 5 years marked by pandemic, losses and cost cuts. <---for article, google that
Dude personally destroyed USPS. Used to get Priority mail across the country in 2-3 days, and you could file for claims on lost packages.
Now even Amazon's own shipping algo knows that Priority takes a week or more, and if a package gets lost, good luck navigating the appeals process.
It was sad to see the mighty USPS crippled by this loser. Hope he rots, and hope we get someone who was ACTUALLY A POSTAL EMPLOYEE AT ONE TIME IN THEIR LIFE
LOL!

Unfortunately, some indications are that this is based on part over attempts to privatize the USPS; which could very likely make things even worse (or at least, more expensive).
I have doubts that competence will be considered when selecting his replacement. We'll have to wait an see.
I ship +/- 600 parcels a year, all via USPS, and during the past five years or more, I have never lost a package and have had few arrive late. Is this due to the Postmaster General? I'm not qualified to comment, but I've been more than happy with the USPS for a long time. But be careful what you wish for: our current president wants to privatize the USPS. Media mail? See ya later. Bound printed matter? Bye bye. "Reasonable" postal rates for all types of mail? A memory of the good old days. On-time delivery? HAHAHA. Sticker shock for postage rates in the future? Oh, yeah.
Yay!
We ship quite a bit monthly 25% are late taking up to 2 weeks to deliver from West Coast to East Coast.
The old "Your package is still in route but arriving late" has cost us plenty. Lets hope for a better service. I would pay a bit more for better services and support.
Donzo attempting to take control over the USPS.
Protest by stopping all usage of USPS in your shipments. UPS is better anyway, they deliver on TIME, don't lose packages, and they HONOR the insurance claims.
google "Trump expected to take control of USPS"
Just read that Trump wants to take over the Post Office.
We don't ship via the USPS, but I used to work there as a temp holiday season employee for three months about 20 years ago. I can only say for the location I worked at (Omaha, NE main Downtown hub). From what I observed the USPS is beyond repair. Back then it felt like it was easier to scrap the whole thing and build a new one.
I remember they installed a couple of years prior my tenure there a brand new conveyor belt/sorting system throughout the entire building. That thing would break down every hour or so. Boxes would start piling up and crashing each other like cars on the interstate during a bad snow storm. The thing was very expensive and super glitchy. Instead of making the contractor to fix it, they hired them as full-time mechanics. There were always at least two of them at the building and all they did was resetting the controller computers and telling people to move the boxes manually off the lines in preparation for a reset. Reset every hour. One of them shared his salary with me during lunch. It was astonishing 20 years ago and it's still astonishing even now.
Another thing I noticed is how permanent employees acted. They did not care about anything at all, except two things: working as little as possible and getting paid as much as possible. I was a temp and there was a group of us. We worked fast, but nothing outrageous (not like Amazon warehouse pickers). Perms would often come to us and tell us to slow down because their super might get evil on them. They told us that the amount of volume we did in 2-3 hours usually equates to what they do in 3 days and they wanted to keep it that way. They didn't want their managers to think that their job could be done faster. And they were constantly filing grievances with their union and management about hours that temps took away from them. Basically, they could sit at home during a holiday or weekend and then file a grievance, claiming that the USPS did not offer them to work, hiring temps instead. And they would get 3.5 times their regular salary if such grievances involved holidays. Some of them joked that we, temps, just paid for his family's Christmas presents while he was watching football at home.
I have no sympathy for the USPS because of how their system operates. I realize there are plenty of hard working USPS employees, especially foot soldiers like carriers. It's a hard work. I wouldn't want them to get hurt by possible upcoming changes. But everything else I saw at the USPS back then has to change.
why? was he a POSTMASTER?????????????
anyway -usps will increase the postage price again to avoid the loss
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday said he may put the U.S. Postal Service under the control of the Commerce Department in what would be an executive branch takeover of the agency, which has operated as an independent entity since 1970.
“We want to have a post office that works well and doesn’t lose massive amounts of money,” Trump said. “We’re thinking about doing that. And it’ll be a form of a merger, but it’ll remain the Postal Service, and I think it’ll operate a lot better.”
Trump made the remarks at the swearing-in of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. He called the move a way to stop losses at the $78 billion-a-year agency, which has struggled to balance the books with the decline of first-class mail.
