Reminders for a smooth Brand Registry Application

Hey everyone!

Over the last few days, I've seen a handful of people reaching out regarding common issues with their applications. I wanted to post this reminder for some common pitfalls we see here on the Forums that are easy to avoid!

Brand name does not match trademark

  • Please make sure to follow capitalization, spaces, and special characters used in your trademark application to ensure an EXACT match of the brand name. For example, if you register your brand name as “Amazon Echo” with a trademark office but you type “AmazonEcho” or “Amazon-Echo,” your application will not be approved.

Mark type mismatch

  • For initial enrollment, only certain trademark types are accepted. Other mark types can be added AFTER enrollment
  • For a more robust break-down, check out the Brand Registry Design mark vs Word mark post from earlier this month

Providing Top- Selling ASINs

  • The brand name on the ASIN MUST match the brand name on your application.
  • If you have been selling for a bit, this is NOT the top- selling ASIN in your current catalog.
  • This is an optional field

If you are enrolling with a US trademark, please note that the USPTO requires foreign domiciled applicants or registrants to be represented by a U.S. licensed attorney in good standing

  • Additional scrutiny may be triggered by Amazon for use of a suspicious filing firm. Attorneys suspected of misconduct may be investigated by the USPTO. If you are working through an intermediary, rather than directly with a US licensed attorney, to seek a US trademark registration or enrollment into Brand Registry, your application may be subject to additional scrutiny by Amazon and the USPTO. Before hiring an attorney or a trademark service company, check whether they are subject to an Order for Sanctions from the USPTO or listed as an entity on the Potentially Misleading Solicitations webpage
  • You can search the UPSTO for Order for Sanctions. The site also has numerous resources to help you validate organizations you may be working with

Business Verification

  • The business identifier (tax ID or business ID) has to match your registered business name

Avoid hitting the close this case button

  • The typical application review time is around 10 days, but this can fluctuate depending on the specifics in your application. It’s never fun to just wait, especially when your business is on the line, but please be patient as the team wants to get it right the first time.

As always, don't forget to check out our Brand Registry Application Guide as you go through the enrollment process.

Cheers!

Brand Registry rejected because Manufacturing Agreement, Invoice was incomplete or did not satisfy the requirements to confirm brand association or ownership.

Not sure what this means.

Any help would be grateful appreciated.

Thanks

Jim is this all automated. It sounds like the seller has to make the bot or AI happy before it ever gets to a team. Thanks in advance for your response.
