I've a question about brand registry. Does amazon allow random people to register brands on amazon even though they don't have a product which reflects their made up brand name?
One name that comes to mind off the top of my head, COMPUTER UPGRADE KING. He has a brand on amazon yet he doesn't manufacture computers but he does sell well known computer brands under his own made up name.
There's literally only a hand full of household name known companies which manufacture laptops especially.
I look forward to your reply.
Hi @Jameson_Amazon
In order to gain access to Brand Registry, I'm in the process of applying for an "intent to use" trademark application with a new brand logo and brand name that's 1-word less than my current listings. The products that I will be selling are the same, but we've updated our designs so the pending trademarks will be for the new product designs. My products with the new logo/design are currently being manufactured and will be shipped within the next month which is why I'm submitting an "intent to use" application. 1 only have 1 product in different variations under 1 account/name. I understand that there are no legal questions so my questions will be Amazon-based
My questions are;
Since I'm submitting this as an "intent to use" application because my new designed products are being manufactured, will I still be required to submit an image of the products(as one of the required steps in the Brand Registry)?
The other question is, after I register for the Brand Registry, what happens to my current listings with my current logo/design? Since I'm the owner of the brand and the products, can I sell them under the Brand Registry with my updated Brand name and logo/design? Again, my product is the same. We've updated our brand name to 1 less word than its original with the same products.
Would it be possible to address the scenario where two different brands have a separate registered trademark of the same name?
My brand and another brand both have registered trademark's for "Woody's". We operate two completely different businesses. (We are a retailer/manufacturer of snowmobile traction and control products and they sell haircare products.) They have taken the opportunity to register their brand through brand registry and now it's being linked to our dealer's product listings of the products we manufacture. We've applied for brand registration but we've been rejected due to it be 'related' to a brand that is already enrolled in brand registry.
Are there restrictions in place when two different registered trademarks that have the same name apply for brand registry? I'm sure the Woody's haircare line would prefer not to be associated with snowmobile products!
@Jameson_Amazon
How can ungated Sellers help Amazon to get non-generic brand listings, that are erroneously listed as Generic brand, corrected or removed?
Some look like they were created by Amazon by mistake.
Here is one example of this: B0CCQLHCQV
The brand (Moen) doesn't sell directly from Amazon. Amazon, and other sellers, sell this brand. There needs to be another way to have IP corrected because it won't be by the IP owner.
Thanks,
Kim from Florida
